The Lantern Theatre is the home of the amateur theatre group The Dilys Guite Players with members from Sheffield and the surrounding area. The Dilys Guite Players began in 1957 and perform four plays a year. The Lantern Theatre, Sheffield's only small Victorian theatre, is a beautiful and intimate setting. Members are able to become involved in a variety of areas of a production including acting, set design, set building, stage management, directing, lighting, front of house and even bar work. Most of the Dilys Guite Players productions can be booked online. The Lantern Theatre is also home to a tremendous variety of other professional and amateur productions throughout the year from stand up comedy, rock bands, poetry evenings and more. More information can be found in our What's On guide.
New! Play Exploration Group
The Dilys Guite players are holding their new monthly play exploration group on Tuesday 2nd March at the Lantern Theatre at 7-30pm. We look at plays old and new, read and act out extracts, discuss plot and characterisation. However some people prefer to watch rather than join in and that is ok. Drinks and nibbles available. We would also welcome people more interested in set design, set building, lighting and sound who would like to discuss these aspects of the plays. The next meeting will be looking at American plays, and will be led by Shirley Reaney.
Hope to see you there!

Secondary Cause of Death
26th April - 1st May 2010

Written by Peter Gordon
(By arrangement with Josef Weinberger)
Directed by Jo Foster

The sequel to 'Murdered to Death' which was performed to a sold out house by the Dilys Guite Players last season.

Inspector Pratt arrives at Bagshot House with grim news for Colonel Craddock but that's just the beginning. Who is the strange Polish Count? Is Henrietta really an army Captain? And where does the thespian Longfellow fit into the scene? These are just some of the characters who make Pratt's return a chaotic nightmare as the bodies pile higher and higher!

If you thought that Murdered to Death was funny, just wait until you see this one..
